T- Storms and rain

Well it has been a grueling couple of days with rain and thunderstorms but tyhe worst has been the head winds. Bob has been doing well. He still needs more rest stops and finds himself falling off the pace at times. Considering the expectations of doing a ride like this day after day he is doing great. Sunday we had heat to contend with and of course the hills hills hills and headwind. Monday was probably the best day so far in that we had no rain and it was cooler. Tuesday we started out in the rain and had to stop for lightning once. It was a wet and windy day. The rain subsided in order to put up tents and eat and then the thunderstorms began and lasted well into the night. Tent was wet inside in the morning. Today we are hoping for a break. I will let you know

Beginning of PALM

Last night we drove to the boat to be just a little closer to the beggining of our next big adventure. This morning we got up bright and early to go the rest of the way to Harbour Beach to load the bikes and luggage and then onto the bus to be transported to Ludington. From there we are on our bikes for the rest of the week. Tonight we plan to do a short optional ride to Ludington State Park. I brought plenty og games along so our evening will be filled also. Several Slow Spokes have signed up for the ride, so we will have plenty of company besides the 700 other riders. I counted five buses here. That does not include the people already in Ludington. So the is the beggining of PALM (Pedal across lower Michigan) 2011.
