Catching up with the news of the ride

The last few days we have been riding and sightseeing in the Big Easy. Saturday we rode into New Orleans from St. Bernard State Park. I did about 47 miles that day. Once we arrive in New Orleans we were greeted by a member of a bicycle club there and he took us on a tour of the city on bike. Pictures to follow I have not downloaded the photos from the camera yet. Some of the sites included Katrina memorials and sights of devastation. Also saw Sandra Bullock's and John Goodman's house. The roads were quite rough and riding was difficult at times with starts and stops and occasional traffic.
Sunday we had a day from riding and just took the ferry to New Orleans and did some walking on the River Walk and Bourbon Street. We did have a hurricane at a local resturaunt called Pat Obrien's. The bugs have been bad while we are camping so it has been a lot of early nights.
Yesterday we road from Westwego (outside NO) to Doinaldsonville. I personally only rode about 30 miles and Bob managed to go 25 and did quite well. We were in a hotel last night so we were able to do a game night. It was great fun but we all began to fade as the evening wore off. I think we were all in bed by 9:30.
Today is an 83 mile day but Bob and I are riding for a short while in the afternoon. Several of the group have offered to let Bob use their bikes so we will be able to ride together. The temp has dropped at least 20 degrees today so riding should be nice.
